Setting the Conditions for Inner Peace
“It’s a gift from nature that the body will heal itself, that the soul can heal itself, given the opportunity.”
Do you ever feel your body pulling you in the right direction?
This inner compass is the facet of Bob Roth’s teachings on Transcendental Meditation that I was most curious about…How does TM help us access it?
“It’s the nature of life, given the opportunity, to grow…With the body, you set up the conditions, it will heal itself. But, it’s all about setting up the conditions.
What Transcendental Meditation does is it sets up the conditions for the mind to turn within and find a field of unlimited happiness, power, energy, and intelligence deep within that everyone has. It’s not something you have to believe in. It’s there.”
Bob illuminates how tapping into this innermost part of ourselves amplifies everything from our creativity to our capacity to fulfill our purpose and love unconditionally. Each flourishes from discerning the conditions that enable us to embody our truth and allowing the rest to unfold.
“You could plant a seed for an apple tree in just the right soil, sunlight, and climatic conditions. You have a beautiful apple tree. You planted that seed at the right place, at the right time, in the right conditions. You got the full support of nature. Or, you could plant that seed in a crack of a sidewalk. You have no support of nature. Same seed. Same act of planting. But, where, when, and how are all the difference.
Nature is not inert. There’s a flow. The whole idea of nature support in one’s life is: you can’t intellectually figure everything out. But, through meditation and transcendence, aligning yourself at that deepest level of your nature is also the deepest level of nature’s nature. When you settle down into that, then quite spontaneously, you’re in that stream of evolution…Everything you do is in that flow.”
Bob has taught thousands of people TM, and through his leadership as CEO of the David Lynch Foundation, facilitated the teaching of over a million students, veterans with PTSD, and survivors of domestic violence. As one of the most sought out teachers, his belief that we all need the ability to heal ourselves expands beyond our individual experience. It’s essential to our collective vitality.
“If we want to be a citizen of this Earth, if we want to be a member of this family or community, we have a responsibility. We have to evolve. We have to grow. Our cup has to runneth over. So, that we’re in a position to give to others who are maybe not in that position.
The times we live in now demand self-actualization. They demand transcendence.”
What conditions contribute to your sense of alignment? How might you prioritize them this week?
With gratitude,
Jenna
